Amanda Black’s big break came with the release of her hit single “Amazulu” in 2016. The single, synonymous with the album name received several awards. After three weeks Amazulu reached platinum status. Amanda Black adorns her face with stipples of Xhosa face paint as an expression of how proud she is of her roots. Her musical style is a combination of Afro-Pop, hip-hop, soul and R&B.
Amanda Black has received several accolades for her work including the BET’s Viewers Choice: Best International Act (2017). On 20 July 2018, she released “Kahle” which also became a national hit. Before her break, Amanda had taken part in three editions of Idols South Africa. She became the fans’ favourite at the Season 11 of the talent show in which she made it to the top 7. Her undying spirit is to be credited for her current success in the music industry.
Amanda Benedicta Antony was born on 24 July 1993 in Mthatha, Eastern Cape and grew up in Butterworth, Eastern Cape. When she turned 12, she began competing in talent hunts which exposed her to stage performance. Staying true to her passion, she went on to further her education at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University where she studied Music.
Amanda Black possesses a soothing yet powerful soprano vocal range. She has headlined a couple of events and featured on top TV/Radio programs.
