AMADONDO is a performing duo of two friends Bright and Chappie who started dancing at a young age in the township of Lamontville in Durban. They were initially a part of a group called Dance-Vibe Jammers.
Their success and popularity encouraged them to move to Johannesburg with the aim of being part of the main entertainment industry. This is where they met with other dancers and musicians. Their role in the industry has been apprearances as dancers for big South African artists on the stage and on music videos.
Their formal employment was with Kalawa Jazzmee Records where they worked with Character as his backing vocals and dancers. They were with this company for three years.
This involvement in the industry led them to produce their own music. The first single they did was a track called Sasho which was on top of the chart for unsigned artists on YFM in the year 2007.
PERFORMANCES AND CURRENT ACTIVITIES
Their musical style is unique as it is a fusion of kwaito and modern hip hop. The major shows that they have been a part of are;
In theatre, they are a part of a cast known as The Voice From Kilimanjaro, this is a mainstream theatre show funded by The National Department of Arts and Culture. This is a production aimed at educating South Africans about xenophobia.
Musically hey have collaborated with artists like Okmalumkoolkat. It is with this mainstream artist that they have produced the national hit ‘GQI’, which began the year 2017 as a national hit as it played repeatedly by most radio stations in the country.
This hit single has seen them appearing live on television programs like CLUB 808 on eTV and a live interview on Channel O. This also has a music video that is currently circulating on major music channels and music programs.

Their popularity has led to endorsements by companies like DIADORA that has sponsored them with sneakers.
They are also sponsored by OOFSURE clothing line with t-shirts and jackets.
They are currently planning to release and EP that will consist of 5 tracks. This will be followed by the production of a music video that will be distributed to the mainstream media both locally and across the continent.
They are also working on a collaboration with Busiswa, a popular house musician.
